Ashridge has an impressive outdoor and indoor experiential learning facility, which is used on both our public and bespoke programmes, as well as being available for conference clients and independent teams.
Our definition of experiential learning is ‘learning by doing’ with a particular focus on individual and team learning. Our learning philosophy centres on the notion that deeper learning can be gained from practical application allowing participants to try out some of the behavioural models they encounter in the classroom. Experiential learning is a powerful method of developing awareness of both oneself and others.
We offer a range of indoor and outdoor problem solving tasks which are specially designed for teams. All the tasks are complex and some tasks involve moderate amounts of physical activity, though we always operate a strict policy of ‘challenge by choice’ on all of our activities.
Working outdoors for part of the day provides a refreshing contrast to the classroom, as well as offering a safe environment to test out new tools and behaviours while receiving feedback from our specialist facilitation team. The learning is both enjoyable and memorable and we have clients who come back many years later who still remember their time with us in the outdoors as well as the lessons learned.
The spectrum of what we offer ranges from deep personal and team learning through to a light touch, including ice-breaker sessions, fun days or helping a new team to get to know one another better. Our team events are always personally designed and tailored to fit your exact event or learning needs.
If you are joining us on an Ashridge programme which is using experiential learning, see Practical information for participants.
