Our Purpose

The Ashridge Centre for Coaching is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the field of executive coaching. We aim to publish at least ten articles a year in recognised journals, and a book every two years. We work in partnership with leading academics and practitioners, and offer research fellowships to visiting researchers. The research and standards of the Ashridge Centre for Coaching inform the Ashridge Masters in Executive Coaching.

Coaching Research

The Ashridge Centre for Coaching is proud to host the Greatest Coaching (and Consulting...) Outcome Research Project in history, which has already drawn in more than 2,000 completed questionnaires by clients of coaching. Data collection will continue until 1 April 2013 and a first analysis of the 'greatest ever' dataset on coaching effectiveness will be posted here in early May 2013. We would be grateful if you could contribute to the research. Clients can complete the questionnaire now and coaches can start participating here.

Coaching Supervision Research

A small team of coach supervisors around Liz Wiggins, Erik de Haan and Andrew Atter is researching the relative impact of different ways of organising coaching supervision (making use of recordings, transcripts, etc.). We have completed our inquiry and will report later in the year.

News and events

New book - Behind Closed Doors: Stories from the Coaching Room

Behind Closed Doors is a ground-breaking exploration of executive coaching, based on a wide range of real-life case studies of coaching in action. Despite the enormous growth of executive coaching over the last 20 years, very few case studies are available which can be used to guide practicing coaches - and those who retain their services - and which reveal the reality of coaching in action. Yet when the curtain is pulled back, we can learn much about the impact of different interventions and different styles; where change happens for the better and where potential pitfalls may occur. Written by skilled and experienced practitioners, and showing what happens 'inside' coaching relationships and the values it can have for the development of coach and client alike, this book provides just such guidance.
