The Ashridge Difference: Real-world wisdom, experience and results

The Ashridge Difference

Ashridge is focused on helping organisations and individuals achieve their ambitions and be the best that they can be.

We work with clients to create challenging, inspiring and energising leadership development.

International rankings and awards

The Financial Times custom executive education rankings 2013 positions Ashridge:

  • 11th best business school in the world and No 6 in Europe>
  • We are ranked no 1 in Europe and 2nd in the world for international participants, and 4th in the world for international programme delivery. This reflects the global nature of our customised programmes

Ashridge is ranked in the top 20 Business Schools in the world by Bloomberg Businessweek 2011-2012
Ashridge won the EFMD 2010 award for organisational development and was highly commended for executive development in 2011

Difference 1: Real world experience

The majority of Ashridge’s work is with organisations - unusual for Business Schools - creating customised development programmes.

This gives us

  1. a true understanding of the realities facing managers and leaders in organisations today,

  2. a wide business network from which to draw upon, and

  3. the latest thinking and research in the field.

Difference 3: Real world impact

We believe that the true value of executive education is the impact it has within organisations and on the lives of practising managers and leaders.

So we focus on results and impact, on designing processes and content which immediately link learning to action.

After all, if the work we do doesn’t make a significant impact on your organisation and your people, you could ask “what’s the point?”

This is why our practical, application-based approach is so important to us. Our programmes dedicate more time to interaction and experience than lecture and input, and address the real issues facing business today.

Difference 2: Real world wisdom

Our philosophy is that to work effectively with clients, we need to have worked in business and grappled with similar issues.

"You would not want to be treated by a surgeon who had never been in an operating theatre, or represented by a lawyer who had never stood up in court." The same is true with business and management.

That's why all Ashridge faculty have extensive, real international business experience, having worked in industry prior to joining Ashridge and gaining academic credentials.

Our faculty understand the real challenges facing leaders and managers.

Because we create executive development programmes for over 120 clients every year our experience of current business and industry challenges is exceptional and far exceeds our closest competitors.
